Katrina Gevaux

Director of Aquatics

“I am passionate about all aspects of swimming.”

Katrina has worked in the aquatics and recreation industry for over 17 years. She has a wide breadth of experience including swim teaching, aqua classes, club development and finance. Katrina’s dedication and forward thinking has been recognised with numerous industry awards including the Highly Commended Emerging Leader at the Victorian Disability Awards and the Innovative Program Award by the Aquatic Recreation of Victoria. Ivanhoe Swim is her vision come to life. Katrina is proud to be managing such 2 fantastic swim schools and enjoys being part of a passionate, committed team.

Ako Kusafuka

Head Coach

Ako’s whole life has been spent next to or in the pool. In Japan, Ako was a secondary school teacher and she has brought her passion for teaching and learning to Ivanhoe Swim. Ako has worked in a number of great programs both in Japan and Australia, coaching national age medalists in both countries. Ako is passionate about developing the next generation of athletes and coaches.

Eddie is our Aquatics Manager at Ivanhoe Swim’s Doreen location. He is a passionate and aspiring person who is known for fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment. Eddie is dedicated to creating a healthy and fun environment for not only his team but also all patrons of the pool and hopes everyone leaves with a smile and a desire to come back. He is passionate about the importance of swimming lessons for young people and believes everyone should have the access to learn to swim.

Nathan Foote

Assistant Head Coach

“Coaching allows me to combine my level of swimming with the privilege of helping athletes grow, achieve and succeed.

Nathan is an Open Nationals Swimmer and understands what it takes to perform at this level, and the challenges faced in competition. He is an excellent coach, with years of experience, and takes great pride in the achievements of the swimmers he works alongside. Before joining Ivanhoe Swim, Nathan coached swimmers in Queensland. He is passionate about the up-and-coming swimming talent in Australia.

James McBride

Swim Coach

“The magic you’re looking for is in the work you’re avoiding.”

James has been swimming all his life and is very passionate about this sport. He currently trains as part of Swimming Australia’s High-Performance Squad. James has trialled for Tokyo and Paris Olympics and is currently preparing for Olympic trials for Los Angeles in 2028. He is a dedicated and supportive coach for both Ivanhoe Swim and Ivanhoe Edge. James is currently studying a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science, majoring in Exercise Physiology and has an interest in sports biomechanics.

Jackson Bedggood

Swim Coach

“It is so awesome when the swimmers you coach achieve their goals.”

Jackson has years of coaching experience and is an Open Nationals swimmer. He is a dedicated and results driven coach. He celebrates the achievements of his swimmers. In late 2024, he celebrated with swimmer Grace, the realisation of her dream they had worked hard as a team for her to achieve: breaking the Girls 16yrs 100m Individual Medley S19 record.
